Tiny Terror

The Tiny Terror was designed for surfers looking for a high-performance twin-fin groveler or alternative fish that can handle a wide range of conditions without sacrificing performance.

Hunter developed the Tiny Terror to make junk surf fun while still maintaining the speed, response, and performance you want when the waves get better. The goal was simple: get the board flying as soon as you take off, while keeping the loose, fast, skatey feeling that makes a twin fin so much fun.

Hunter wanted a wide, thick tail block that would carry speed through flatter sections while still allowing the board to pivot, bite, and hold through turns. The result is a bat-pin hybrid tail, inspired by other small-wave groveler designs but with Hunter's own take on the concept. 

The Tiny Terror is probably the lowest-rocker model in Hunter's lineup, combined with a deep double concave running through the middle of the board and into the tail, finishing with vee in the last section. This combination gives the board extra hold while making it easy to transition from rail to rail. The channels through the tail (inspired by Glenn's Firefly) provide additional bite and hold without taking away from the freedom of the twin-fin setup.

The nose and tail are both fuller, while the deck has a domed shape that allows for more tapered rails. This gives the board plenty of float without making the rails overly thick. There's also more foam carried through the chest area for added paddle power and stability, while the last six inches of the nose are kept thin to help the board turn, whip, and respond quickly.

We recommend going approximately 2 inches shorter than your normal board, and about 1/4" wider if you want to maximize its performance in smaller surf.

Ultimately, it's just a really fun board that fills the gap between a groveler and a performance twin. We've tested it in everything from White Plains to V-Land, and it's worked incredibly well for everyone from average surfers to high-level surfers.

We recommend riding it as a twin fin with an optional trailer, although quad setups are also an option for surfers who prefer a little more hold.

For the twin-fin setup, we recommend a more upright template, similar to the fins ridden by Mark Richards or Akila Aipa. If you prefer to ride without a trailer, the BMTs are a great option. If you're adding the trailer, we'd recommend using it in waves around 3 feet and up.
